Greece welcomes today’s announcement from the UN Secretary-General on the convening of an informal meeting on the Cyprus issue, which will take place in Geneva from 27 to 29 April. The goal of the meeting is to find common ground that will lead to substantial negotiations on the resolution of the Cyprus issue. The solution will have to be based on the resolutions of the UN Security Council, be in line with European Law, and lead to a functional and viable bicommunal, bizonal Federation. In its capacity as a guarantor power, Greece intends to participate in the informal meeting in Geneva, contributing constructively to the efforts to achieve the goal of the informal meeting.
