Meeting with representatives of business-sector organizations on the internationalization of the Greek economy
The ministries, involved public agencies and representatives of the private sector need to coordinate their actions in order to promote the internationalization of the Greek economy, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos stressed at the 3rd meeting of the Synergy Committee for Economic Diplomacy, which took place today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of representatives of the public and private sectors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Katrougalos added, is already working with the Ministry of Economy and Development and the Ministry of Rural Development to coordinate with private-sector organizations on a full and comprehensive presence of Greek products on the international market. Internationalization supported the Greek economy during the years of the crisis, but we need a new productive model aimed at bolstering exports and the presence of Greek enterprises in new markets, Mr. Katrougalos highlighted. The Secretary General for International Economic Relations, Ioannis Brachos, announced that, in September, a comprehensive proposal will be made to the interministerial committee on the internationalization of the Greek economy, and that this proposal will take into account the recommendations of the private-sector organizations. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Rural Development, Enterprise Greece, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Greek International Business Association (SEVE), the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), the Panhellenic Exporters Association (PEA), the Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT), the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen Merchants (GSEVEE), the Greek Livestock Association (SEK), the Hellenic Association of Ship Suppliers (PSEPE), the Central Union of Chambers, and officials from the competent directorates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
