Romanian coast guards announced Monday nearly 500 Middle Eastern migrants reached Romania across the Black Sea from Turkey in almost a month — an increase the European Union believes shows traffickers are using alternative routes into Europe, Reuters reported. Since 2015, the EU struggled to curb the amount of refugees and migrants smuggled from the Middle East and African to Europe, the report said.
