The meeting took place in a good climate and provided opportunity for an in-depth exchange of opinions on issues of regional and international interest, with emphasis on the Ukraine crisis and recent related developments, as well as on Ukraine-EU relations, in light of the EU’s approval of visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens travelling in the Schengen area. Also raised were issues relating to bilateral cooperation, including matters concerning the education of minorities in Ukraine. The Greek Minister asked for assurances that the rights of the Greek minority will not be impinged. Reaffirming the high level of bilateral relations and ascertaining the need for their further deepening, the two Ministers agreed to meet again during Mr. Klimkin’s visit to Greece in the first half of 2018.
