The decision about the suspension of Greek Super League soccer games was taken because the climate is bad even outside the sports venues, Deputy Minister for Sports Stavros Kontonis on Thursday said in statements to ANT1 TV referring to the incident that took place during a meeting of Super League’s board of directors. “There will be no delays, nor will we accept threats and blackmails,” Kontonis underlined adding that “the problem must be solved once and for all.” Such incidents among soccer officials, the deputy minister said, make fans behave the same way. Kontonis also referred to the meeting with the presidents of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), Super League and Football League, who agreed on the need to apply the law and everything provided for the fan clubs and the electronic ticket. Moreover, he stressed that the government does not have any other legal option, because as he said the legislative framework of football is “rotten”, and as a result the government does not have the opportunity to intervene. However, he clarified that this problem will be solved by legislation that the government will bring forward. (source: ana-mpa)
