Passenger traffic at the Athens International Airport in Greece surpassed the 1 million milestone for the first time in the last five years, totalling 1.04 million passengers in November, an increase of 27.4% compared to the corresponding month last year. Domestic passenger numbers grew 38.7%, while international passenger numbers rose 21.4%. The number of Greek travellers grew 30% in November, with domestic flights rising 43%, while foreign visitors traveling exclusively to Athens rose 28% in November, evidence of a rising attractiveness of the Greek capital as a travel destination. In the January-November period, passenger traffic grew 20.8% to 14.14 million, with domestic and international passengers rising by 21.3% and 20.5%, respectively. The number of flights totalled 10,648 in November, up 16% from November 2013, with domestic flights rising 17.6% and international flights up 14.8%.
