A new social program called “Digital Solidarity Cheque” will allow free internet access to people receiving the social dividend, as well as a laptop or tablet, to help them learn computer skills. The program will be officially announced in November and aims to reduce computer illiteracy in Greece. The beneficiaries will receive a “Digital Solidarity” coupon which will be given to participating companies. The coupon is worth 480 euros for 12 months of internet services and hardware, such as a tablet or laptop, which can be used to learn the basic skills of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by certified instructors. Companies interested in participating in the program must register by September 30. Meanwhile, citizens can submit their applications online on a website to be announced soon.
