Coast Guard and SDOE Search For Another Ton of Heroin

The Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) and the Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) in Greece are conducting investigations to locate another ton of heroin, hidden by suspects arrested last week. During last week’s large-scale operation, authorities seized 1.1 tons of heroin. However, the 41-year old businessman who was arrested is supposed to have hidden another 1.1 ton of the drug in another warehouse in the Koropi suburb of Athens. According to information from the Greek website tovima.gr, the businessman has already been accused as “the dealer of the transportation of 1.1 ton of pure heroin” from Middle East to Greece. Before the arrest, the man tried to rent another warehouse near the one where the heroin was found, telling the owner of the building that he wanted to store stuff from his marine business. The rental agreement  was not formally completed, though, and the warehouse owner is going to testify at the Piraeus Port authorities, because there is information of another ton of heroin in the particular warehouse.
