The most severe heatwave in decades has hit Europe, leaving several dead and forcing villages to be evacuated. Multiple wildfires are raging across the Mediterranean including Italy, Greece, and Turkey, where more than 100 wildfires have begun since Thursday. Emergency services in Turkey are using water cannons normally reserved for crowd control to contain the fires which have killed six people. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said wildfires in the country had doubled after terrorist action last year and is not ruling out arson as a cause for the fires.
