In my meeting today with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Mr. Yair Lapid, we had a long and interesting conversation, during which the strategic relationship between Greece and Israel was confirmed. I had the opportunity to present to him the Greek views. Greece is always in favour of International Law, supports the two-state solution for the Question of Palestine, as well as Israel’s right to self-defense. Of course we discussed about the elephant in the room: the Turkish aggression, the unacceptable Turkish stance on the Cyprus issue. I thanked him for Israel’s clear position and also for enabling direct consultations between Greece and Israel for the enforcement of international legality in the Eastern Mediterranean.
