Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick meets with Greek Diaspora officials and State MPs of Greek descent (Sydney, 28 March 2019)

Concluding his visit to Australia, which included contacts with Diaspora organisations, participation in the celebrations for Greek Independence Day, as well as participation in the “NOSTOS III” programme of the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt trilateral cooperation scheme, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick had meetings with the presidents of various Diaspora organisations in Sydney, with prominent figures of the local Greek community, and with State MPs of New South Wales of Greek descent, namely Eleni Petinos, Sophie Cotsis, and Steve Kamper. During the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs’ meetings with Diaspora organisations, issues pertaining to education, culture were discussed. The need for further strengthening of these two areas by the corresponding competent Greek ministries was stressed. For their part, the New South Wales' MPs of Greek descent expressed their satisfaction with regard to the excellent relations between Greece and Australia and commencement, on 1 July, of the long-awaited “Working Holiday Visa” Programme. Before departing from Sydney, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs visited the Archdiocese of Australia to offer his condolences on the passing of Archbishop Stylianos.
