Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Markos Bolaris, gave an opening speech at the one-day meeting on the Greece-Russia Year of Tourism organized by the Hellenic Parliament (2017-18) in which parliamentary representatives of both countries participated, along with representatives of the Greek Church, the Intra-community Assembly on Orthodoxy, the Greek and Russian Ministries of Tourism, as well as bodies of the regional administration and groups drawn from civil society with initiatives for sustainable tourism. In his welcoming speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs encouraged synergies between the Greek and Russian Churches and Tourism Organisations, which promote contact between the two peoples, stressing the Greek Church’s efforts to organise and promote religious tourism in our country while underscoring the imprint of Orthodoxy on Greek culture.
