On the margins of the High-Level Week of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Kotzias, met on Tuesday 19 September with the Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.The meeting reaffirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations between Greece and the Holy See. The discussion focused on issues of bilateral cooperation and on regional issues, with emphasis on confronting religious fanaticism and on the need to promote interfaith dialogue. Mr. Kotzias set out in detail the content of the Greek initiative of the International Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East,” inviting Archbishop Gallagher to participate. Finally, Archbishop Gallagher requested a briefing on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue.
