Alternate Foreign Minister G. Katrougalos had a courtesy meeting on 20 January with the Australian Ambassador to Athens, Mr. Griffin. The meeting underscored the very strong ties of friendship between Greece and Australia -- ties that are further strengthened by the presence of a large Greek community in Australia -- and there was an exchange of views on, among other things, issues of European interest, with particular emphasis on the discussions within the EU on the future of Europe.
