Source: www.wnyc.org - Saturday, August 29, 2015 Lear deBessonet conceived and directed the community-based Public Works musical adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey at The Public Theater . Inspired by the historical pageantry movement of the early 1900s—known for blending mass spectacle with community engagement—this latest work in deBessonet and Todd Almond ’s three-part cycle reimagines the Greek epic. Man-eating Cyclops, a sorceress that turns sailors to beasts, and the deadly sweet song of the Sirens are all part of this musical about finding your way home. This original musical adaption will run for four nights only through Sunday, September 7 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. deBessonet and Almond will be joined by Karen Olivo , who stars as Penelope. All Related
