Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki on Monday that he will support a SYRIZA initiative to propose the recognition of the Palestinian state by the Greek Parliament, sources said. The proposal will be submitted by SYRIZA’s parliamentary group, the sources said, without specifying a date. The same sources said that Tsipras has an open invitation to visit Palestine and that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas may visit Greece, possibly after an agreement has been achieved with Greece’s creditors. Tsipras also expressed his support to the Palestinian people and stressed the need to restart negotiations with Israel. (Source: ANA-MPA)
