A Greek businessman is on the list of 89 businessmen who are blacklisted and forbidden to enter Russia. Theodoros Margellos, businessman and investment consultant, is on the list compiled by the Russian foreign ministry. The 89 “undesirable” individuals have no right to enter the country. European Union officials have reacted to the ban, which is considered a retaliation for the sanctions imposed on Russia for its crucial role in the Ukrainian crisis. Margellos had been conducting business in Ukraine, among other countries. Speaking to Kathimerini daily, the businessman said that he has no idea why he is banned from entering Russia. In the past, Margellos had been accused by then ANEL MP Panos Kammenos of purchasing Post Bank CDs at low prices having inside information that Greece would enter an International Monetary Fund bailout scheme. However, the First Instance Court of Athens had ruled the Kammenos allegations on the Cd transactions as false and slanderous.
