Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke in parliament today underlining that a deal with lenders over the state debt is no longer a technical issue but a matter of political will. “I can assure you that everyone recognizes the necessity of political will in order to protect democracy in our common home, which is Europe. Otherwise, Europe will come out of this wronged and wounded,” he said. Tsipras also said that he is optimistic that, “there will be a happy ending soon, and despite difficulties, with the support of the people, we will manage to come out of the crisis completely. We are honest, open and clean. And this is how we will continue to be because in democracy there are no deadlocks and there is always a way out for people and governments.” The Greek PM also asked for the support of opposition parties in voting in favor of reforms because, as he said, this is a national and not a party issue.
