Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras expressed on Friday his optimism for the outcome of the negotiations between the Greek government and the country’s international creditors, at a cabinet meeting that was held late on Friday. During the 5-hour meeting, that ended well after midnight, the ministers were updated on the developments that occurred in the Eurogroup meeting and the EU Summit held last week. The briefings were carried out by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Government Vice President Yiannis Dragasakis and Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias. It should be noted that Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis arrived at the meeting shortly after midnight. According to government sources, at the Cabinet meeting it was agreed that the Greek government would seek an agreement on the basis of a compromise that would allow it to implement the core of its program, including measures to address the humanitarian crisis, to restore worker’s rights and to protect public property.
