The privatization of OPAP, the former state betting agency, “is not a done event,” main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras warned on Friday in Athens. “For us, the national crime of privatizing OPAP, especially under the scandalous terms this was done with, is not a done event,” Tsipras told the national federation of lottery agents about the 2013 privatization. “A government based on SYRIZA will not say ‘Que sera, sera’,” he added and asserted his party’s government would never allow the rampant creation of casinos. “We support the natural network of existing lottery agencies in Greece and the family businesses comprising them which guard against large gambling interests and profiteering rampages on neighborhoods.” (source: ana-mpa)
