A new poll published today by the Greek “Eleftherotypia” newspaper shows that the left-wing SYRIZA opposition party is in the lead over governing New Democracy party. The new poll was conducted by Palmos Analysis rating firm. It was conducted from October 31- November 3 for SBC TV Channel. To the question: “If national elections were held today, which party would you vote for?”, the majority of respondents said they would vote for left-wing SYRIZA party. In detail, 29.4% of respondents said they would vote for SYRIZA, 19% for governing right-wing New Democracy party, 6.5% for extreme-right wing Golden Dawn party, 5.4% for newly launched “To Potami” party, 4.3% for the Communist Party of Greece KKE, 1.4% for Ecologist Greens, 1.2% for LAOS right-wing party, 1.2% for “Creation Again” (Dimiourgia Xana) party, 0.5% for Democratic Left (DEMAR) party. The percentage of respondents that said they haven’t yet made up their mind reached 20.9%. To the question who is a more capable leader, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras continues to be more popular than SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras. Samaras gained 37% of respondents votes, while Tsipras gained 30% of votes. The majority of those who participated in this poll (54%) believe that the current government must complete its 4-year term, while 46% of them believe that neither the current New Democracy government nor a potential SYRIZA government would manage to get Greece out of the crisis.
