A Surprise Wedding at 30,000 Feet!

After the initiative of several Chinese couples getting married in Greece, a couple from Belgium decided to tie the knot in Greece too. The difference however, is that this couple got married at 30,000 feet over the Greek island of Rhodes. 24-year old, Alexander Serruys entered a competition held by Thomas Cook Travel Company on Valentine’s Day to propose and get married all in the same day on a board flight. Alexander, the winner of the competition “If you could marry your girlfriend in the air, would you do it?” started planning the big surprise wedding trying not to raise suspicion. His 20-year old fiancée, Marieke, was told that she had won a trip with her sister to the Greek island and that it was being filmed for Thomas Cook. The groom succeeded in organizing the perfect wedding and the clueless bride received quite the surprise when she realized that close family members, friends and the groom were hidden at the back of the airplane. The wedding dress, chosen by Marieke’s sister and other wedding preparations couldn’t be excluded from the surprise. After they landed, a wedding celebration took place, organized in Rhodes by Thomas Cook. The couple enjoyed their honeymoon at the Island of the Knights.
