17 Immigrants Collected off Farmakonisi Coast

On Tuesday morning, June 10, the Greek Coast Guard collected 17 immigrants from the sea, in the northeast of Farmakonisi. The immigrants had no legal documents in their possession. The immigrants jumped in the water after their boat flooded and it seemed impossible for them to stop the water inflow. Farmakonisi is a small Greek island of the Dodekanese, in the Aegean Sea. It is also commonly known as Farmakos and Farmacusa. All immigrants are in good health condition and they are currently being transferred to Leros, Greece. A few months ago, twelve immigrants, including children, were killed in the same area when the Greek police authorities tried to evict them from the Greek maritime area.`
