Greece Will Reject Bailout if Austerity Attached

ATHENS - Sticking to his word, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has said ? through Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras ? that if the country?s international lenders insist on more austerity measures if a third bailout is needed that Greece won?t accept the deal. Under intense pressure with social unrest building over the ongoing move to shed some 40,000 public workers over the next two years, the government is also struggling with a burgeoning gap of at least 2 billion euros ($2.73 billion) in its budget with tax revenues far off projections despite big tax hikes that have gone along with big pay cuts and slashed pensions. In an interview with the newspaper Kathimerini, Stournaras said that Greece will reject more aid if the Troika of the European Union-International Monetary Fund-European Central Bank (EU-IMF-ECB) demands more Draconian reforms in return.
