Prince Philip’s legacy was ‘the love story he shared with the Queen’
Prince Philip will be remembered for his duty to the Queen and his country, but his greatest legacy is “the love story he shared with the Queen”, according to Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter. “Whether it was serving in the Royal Navy, he was mentioned in dispatches for his bravery in during World War II, he was a devoted naval officer, duty to Queen and country, duty to the British people and indeed the Commonwealth at large,” she told Sky News chief anchor Kieran Gilbert. “When we look at Prince Philip’s entire life the word that immediately comes to mind is duty.” Ms Arbiter said Prince Philip’s upbringing - being exiled from Greece as a child - influenced his life and how he treated others. He established the Duke of Edinburgh Award and was one of the first Royals to emphasise the importance of environmental conservation, but it paled in comparison to his marriage to the Queen. “Ultimately when we look at Prince Philip’s legacy it really is that love story he shared with the Queen.”
