by KG/XINHUA Greek police retrieved on Monday the dead bodies of a French couple who went missing on Friday during hiking amidst heat wave on Crete island, according to authorities. Police believe that the 62-year-old woman was injured after falling in a remote mountainous area and her 64-year-old husband tried to get help, but lost consciousness due to dehydration. His body was found about a km further with his mobile phone in his hand. The last call was made to the hotel where they were staying, but investigators believe he had poor signal. The hotelier notified the police on Saturday about the disappearance of the two French nationals and a rescue operation was launched. Following the tragedy, local authorities stressed to hikers the significance of taking precaution measures in particular when the temperatures are high.
