Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias will participate in the Ministerial Week of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.The Minister of Foreign Affairs will attend a markedly increased number of meetings and High-Level events centred around issues of regional and international interest.Inter alia, the ministerial working dinner on developments in the Middle East (23/9), President Trump’s event on tackling the world drug problem (24/9), the UN Secretary-General’s Meeting on action for Peacekeeping (25/9), and the Round Table discussion on the role of education for countering racism and discrimination (26/9). He will also participate in the Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers (24/9), as well as in the Transatlantic Dinner of Foreign Ministers (25/9), where he will have the opportunity to promote Greece’s positions.At the same time, on the margins of the Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have numerous bilateral meetings and contacts with his foreign counterparts, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Lebanon, Jordan, the UAE, Palestine, Peru, Azerbaijan, Morocco, and Kazakhstan, and with representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as representatives of Cypriot and Jewish organisations.Mr. Kotzias’ program also includes the Quadrilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania (26/9). In addition, on 27/9 and for the second year in a row, the Ministerial Meeting of the countries participating in the Ancient Civilizations Forum (ACForum), will convene on the margins of the Assembly. It was launched in Athens, in April 2017, at the initiative of the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.Furthermore, on Thursday 27/9, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be the keynote speaker at an open discussion on Greek foreign policy organised by the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), an internationally renowned think tank. On the same day, he will also meet with the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for the fYROM name issue, Matthew Nimetz.
