Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Bolaris today met with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Dr. Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, on the occasion of the latter's visit to Athens. The Deputy Minister expressed Greece’s interest in promoting cooperation with Singapore in the fields of culture, tourism, and shipping, expressing, at the same time, his certitude that the two peoples, through their differing historical experiences, have shaped cultural values and traditions able to contribute to the cooperation between the two countries. For his part, Dr. Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman praised the Greek Government's efforts to strengthen the national economy and reassured the Deputy Minister about his government’s intention to enhance collaboration between the two countries in the fields of culture, shipping, air links, tourism, and logistics. Finally, he briefed the Deputy Minister on the initiatives that his country has undertaken on a UN level related to the signing of the “UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation”, and extended an invitation to the Deputy Minister to visit Singapore in the near future.
