Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Bolaris today received Metropolitan Bishop Ambrose of Korea at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Issues pertaining to the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea in Seoul were discussed such as its interventions in Korean society, as well as the creation of a Greek Language Department at the University of Seoul, where 150 Korean students are enrolled who will carry out postgraduate studies in our country at the conclusion of their studies. The Metropolitan Bishop briefed the Deputy Minister on issues of unity between Korean Christians and Slavopohones in Seoul, placing particular emphasis on the need and prospect of establishing a Patriarchal Cultural and Spiritual Centre to house the Theological School, the School of Agiography and Byzantine Music, and also to house the exhibition of the casts of the ancient Greek statues which had received awards during the course of the Olympic Games in Seoul. The Deputy Minister praised the work of the Metropolis as well as Metropolitan Bishop Ambrose, and thanked him, confirming that he is a “strong voice and presence of the Orthodox Church, and of Greece, in Korea, which we must support with all our power.”
