Finland’s parliament is not willing to accept a new bailout agreement for Greece as Eurozone finance ministers continue negotiations on Sunday’s Eurogroup, according to reports. The country’s euro-sceptic Finns Party, the second in power in parliament, threatened to bring down the government if it supported a new agreement with debt-ridden Greece. Finns Party leader Timo Soini, who is also the country’s foreign minister, has repeatedly argued in favor of a Grexit, saying it would be better for Greece to leave the euro. Finland‘s Grand Committee — made up of 25 of parliament’s 200 MPs — gives the government a mandate to negotiate on Greece’s bailout. Members of the committee met for talks in Helsinki on Saturday afternoon to decide their position, YLE reported. Finnish Finance Minister Alexander Stubb, who participates in talks, tweeted that he could not reveal the mandate given to him by the Grand Committee since Eurogroup negotiations were still ongoing. Finland is one of several EU countries whose national parliaments must sign off of any debt deal for Greece. “The mandate is not public and the Finnish delegation will not discuss it publicly,” Kaisa Amaral, the delegation’s spokesman, said.
