Greek PM Samaras Visits Peristeri Town Hall, Reasserts Commitment to European Alliances

Elections are “not about which party people want but about what kind of country we and our children want to live in,” Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said on Thursday afternoon at the town hall of Peristeri, northwest of Athens, during a campaign speech. Samaras reiterated there will be no Memorandums or wage and pension cuts in 2015, and that there would be growth under different circumstances “because Greece has exited the problem and we will have this growth after the sacrifice made by the Greek people.” The Premier also stressed the need for collaboration, agreement and alliances among parties. He referred to the ruling coalition – which originally included Democratic Left (DIMAR) besides the current junior member PASOK – and called it an unprecedented alliance forged on a common denominator, their European-friendly policy. “Nobody rules alone,” he noted, reiterating his support of European alliances. During the visit, a man verbally attacked Samaras for contributing, as he said, to the rise of unemployment in the area but calmed down without further incident. (source: ana-mpa)
