Greek Santas Run for Athens Children Playgrounds

The first Athens Santa Run took place on Sunday, as 600 Santas ran 2.5 kilometers for a good cause, adding a much-needed Christmas cheer to Greece’s capital. The charity race started on Panepistimiou street where 600 people dressed as Santa Claus ran the distance. The participants were people of all ages, with the oldest Santa being 84 years old and the youngest just three months old. Proceeds will go to the restoration of Athens‘ public playgrounds that have been neglected due to the economic crisis. Participants had rushed to sign up and filled out the 600 places ten days before the run. Each one received a Santa Claus costume.
