Greece: Parcel bomb destroyed at court complex
Associated Press - 17 July 2013 10:33-04:00
ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Police in Greece say a parcel bomb has been destroyed at the country's main court complex in Athens.
The package was delivered Wednesday to offices used by public prosecutors and falsely marked as having been sent from the Athens Bar Association, according to a police statement. It was destroyed by police bomb disposal experts and no one was hurt.
Parcel bombs have been used in attacks later claimed by local anarchist militant groups over the past three years. Militants frequently target banks and the offices of politicians, typically using bombs made with cooking gas canisters.
Armed far-left and anarchist groups have been active in Greece since the 1970s.
