Greece is helping to combat the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on developing countries. At last April’s Global Conference on the response to the coronavirus, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged €1.5 million on behalf of our country. This donation will go to support the international NGO Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), in which international organizations such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF participate. Greece’s contribution will facilitate access to coronavirus vaccines for 92 low- and middle-income countries. These countries, the majority of which are African and Asian, include close neighbours of Greece, such as Albania and Montenegro. In the context of the aforementioned pledge, the relevant grant agreement was signed yesterday by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias.
