Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick meets with Qatar's Minister of Labour, Y. Fakhroo

In the context of his participation in Doha Forum 2018 on 15-16 December, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick met with the Qatar's Minister of Labour, Youssef Fakhroo, who briefed him on the opportunities arising from the creation of employment positions for specialised personnel from Greece, in many sectors related also to the preparation/organisation of the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar such as, inter alia, information technology, novel technologies, construction, transport, tourism, and health. The reforms made by Qatar with regard to the employment rights of foreigners working in the country were also discussed, while closer cooperation between the governments of the two countries was agreed upon for informing the Greek side in a timely manner of the needs of Qatar with regard to a senior workforce and the establishment of specialised committees for cooperation to exploit the opportunities in the field of Small and Medium Sized Businesses. Following his contacts in the Doha Forum, Mr Quick had the opportunity to exchange views with Qatar’s Deputy Minister of Education, and also spoke with U.N. Secretary General A. Guterres, Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Çavuşoğlu, Romania's Minister of Foreign Affairs T. Meleșcanu, and Germany’s former Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Gabriel. On the occasion of his trip to Doha, the Deputy Minister met with employees at the Greek Embassy as well as senior officials of Greek companies which do business in Qatar.
