Memorial Ceremony in Honour of Fallen Greek Soldiers during the Greco-Italian war (1940-1941) in the context of the celebrations for the National Holiday of 28 October

In the context of the celebrations for the National Holiday of 28 October, a formal Memorial Ceremony in Honour of Fallen Greek Soldiers during the Greco-Italian war (1940-1941) is going to be organised on Sunday 28 October 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Military Cemetery of Këlcyrë, and at 12:00 at the Historical Military Cemetery of Bularat. It should be mentioned that this year's commemorative events are taking place a short while following completion, in the Dragot region of Albania, of the work (which will continue in other locations on Albanian territory) pertaining to the search and exhumation of Fallen Greek soldiers, as well as the religious burial ceremonies for the remains of a total of six hundred and seventy-three (673) Greek heroes at the aforementioned Military Cemeteries. For the first time, the Ceremony will be organised in collaboration with the Albanian side, as is provided for, moreover, by the bilateral Inter-state Agreement of Cooperation between Greece and Albania “on the search, exhumation, identification and burial of Greek Military Fallen in action in Albania during the Greek-Italian war of 1940-1941 and cemetery construction on the territory of the Republic of Albania for their burial” which began being implemented following the meetings between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece and Albania in Crete, in November 2017, and in Korçë in January 2018. The relevant schedule is attached to provide information especially to the families and friends of the Fallen Greek Soldiers who wish to participate in the Memorial Ceremony.
