Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Bolaris met today with the President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, David Saltiel, who was accompanied by the Vice President, Victor Eliezer, and the Treasurer, Daniel Benardout.During the meeting, issues related to actions of the Central Board of Jewish Communities on the international level were discussed, as well as issues related to Greece’s presence in organisations and institutions which deal with the fight against anti-Semitism and the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust.On his behalf, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed both the Government’s as well as his own personal concern for defending the memory of the Greek Jews who were victims of the Holocaust, whose mass extermination represents one of the most tragic chapters of our national history. He also emphasised the efforts to eliminate anti-Semitism on a local and international level through the promotion of the timeless contribution of Greek Jewry. Finally, common actions were discussed and common proposals advanced with culture as major linchpin, particularly with a view towards ensuring respect and promotion of the diversity of Greece's religious and cultural traditions.
