Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Katrougalos, participated, today in Brussels, in the first meeting of the European Union-Cuba Joint Council, which took place on the eve of Parliament’s ratification of the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation between Cuba and the European Union. Earlier, Mr. Katrougalos met with the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez and, in a very warm climate, they discussed bilateral issues, particularly in the sector of economic cooperation. In his speech to the Council, Mr. Katrougalos referred to the common historical experiences of Greece and the countries of Latin America. Furthermore, he expressed the Greek side’s solidarity with the liberation struggles of the Cuban people and his particular satisfaction at the new prospects opened up by the recent agreement for cooperation between Cuba and the EU.
