In response to a relevant request from Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Katrougalos, the European Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, announced that the European Commission agrees to the continued implementation, in 2018, of the issuing of one-week entry visas for visits to Greek islands by Turkish tourists and visitors from third countries who are legally in Turkey. This programme has been implemented successfully in previous years and is of major importance to the economy of the islands. For this reason, its continuation this year was a standing request from all local authorities. Mr. Katrougalos warmly thanked the Commissioner for his actions leading to the positive decision on the issue.
