Advocates for Myanmar’s Muslim ethnic Rohingya community said Wednesday that more than 100 members of the minority group have been killed in recent government counterinsurgency sweeps in the western state of Rakhine. Four people believed to be refugees have been found dead on a crippled boat in the northern Aegean Sea and another 15 survivors have been rescued, Greek authorities said Wednesday. More than 170,000 people have reached Greece by sea from neighboring Turkey this year, most before a series of European border closures in March that stopped their further migration toward Europe’s prosperous heartland. Israel’s parliament has given preliminary approval to a proposal that would legalize hundreds of homes built in West Bank settlements that sit on private Palestinian land. The legislation would legalize the Amona outpost and dozens of other outposts and neighborhoods in existing settlements built on private Palestinian land.
