Turkish Fishermen Rescue Baby Syrian Refugee From Sea

EmbedContent(562bd85ce4b0aac0b8fd20a2,,Embed,aolon,Some({})) Video captured by Turkish fishermen shows the harrowing moment a Syrian toddler is lifted from the Aegan sea. The child, 18-month-old Muhammad Hasan, is recovering at a hospital and is in good health, according to the Hurriyet Daily News. A boat carrying an unknown number of Syrian refugees to Greece capsized Oct. 21 off the waters of Kuşadası, Turkey, the outlet reported. Nearby fishermen managed to rescue 15 people when they noticed an orange life vest bobbing in the water a half mile from where the boat sank. "Faster, faster, people fell into the sea, hurry!" a man can be heard shouting in the video. "Oh my god, there's a baby too." The rescuers pulled Muhammad from the water and heard him making sounds. "Brother, he's alive! He's alive!" the man in the video says as another man tries to revive the child. “We saw the baby whose hands were unmoving, stiff like a robot," the fishing boat's captain, Recep Avran, told the Dogan news agency. "We were devastated because we thought he was already dead. But then we heard a groaning. At that moment, it was like we were given the world." Many organizations are accepting donations to help the refugees. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms.
