Greece's peak holiday season may have ended in August, but for many travel agents, business is booming in October. Hundreds of thousands of people fleeing war and persecution in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have entered the European Union through Greece's eastern islands this year, a short but dangerous journey from Turkey on overcrowded, inflatable boats. At Piraeus, scores of people hurry across the quayside, children in their arms and belongings packed in shopping bags or backpacks.
