Unemployment in Greece has risen again and reached a 26,6% level during the first three months of the year, Katimerini daily reported. According to the data provided by the official government Statistical Institute Elstat, 3, 504, 446 people were currently working by end March, while 1,272,542 were unemployed. However, the report showed that there is in fact a decrease in unemployment as compared to the same period of the previous year when unemployment reached 27,8%. According to the data, one in every four Greeks has never worked and the percentile of the permanently unemployed people or those who have worked for less than a year has reached a considerably high level – 71,6%.
