Former Greek Royal Family’s Old Cars Recognized As Monuments

Τen cars of the former Greek Royal Family, which are now abandoned at the Tatoi palace in Athens, were classified as modern monuments by the Central Council of Modern Monuments because they are objects of special technical and aesthetic value connected with major events of modern Greek history. Eight of these cars are petrol passenger cars, while the other two are electric tricycles possibly used for transporting Royal Family members over short distances within the estate boundaries. The passenger cars come from three different manufacturers, Rolls Royce, MG and Fiat, and are limited edition models. The Rolls Royce cars were used by the the family in order to attend official events. Their interior, which is handmade and characterized by high quality and luxury, is decorated with expensive wood and leather. In the 10,000 acre estate of the former Greek Royal Family in Tatoi, one can also find a wide variety of artwork, objects and traditional costumes that have been declared movable monuments.
