Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot party representatives will visit monuments of high historical importance in Turkish-occupied Famagusta on June 17 to demonstrate their public support for the conservation of cultural heritage in Cyprus. The visit in Famagusta is organized by the Embassy of Slovakia in Cyprus along with political parties that actively participate in bi-communal activities. According to a relevant announcement, the initiative is dedicated to the promotion of cooperation and dialogue, as well as the building of confidence among the two Cypriot communities. At the same time, the visit aims to highlight the political parties’ interest to keep the cultural heritage across the island intangible. The representatives will pay a visit to the Othello Castle and will walk along the walls of the old city of Famagusta. They will also visit the Saint Barnabas Monastery and meet with Stylloi village residents.
