The Holy Light, also known as Holy Fire, was lit in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Holy Saturday by the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III, and it was delivered to the faithful waiting outside. After the end of the ceremony, the Patriarch delivered the Holy Light to the Greek MP Yiannis Amanatidis, who was representing the Greek State, so that he could carry it back to Greece on a special flight. The Holy Light was received in Greece with head of state honors. The delegation that received the Holy Light also included a representative of Glyfada Metropolitan Paul, representing the Orthodox Church of Greece, and the Holy Sepulchre’s Exarch in Greece, Archmandrite Damianos.
