Which Greek Cities Have the Best Internet Speed?

OOKLA, the global leader in broadband testing, network diagnostic applications and data, published a Net Index which calculated the average connection speed in 196 countries worldwide. Greece placed 92nd with an average internet connection speed of 9.64 Mbps. According to the index, Greece’s average connection speed is higher than that of Italy, Cyprus and Albania but it lacks compared to several other European countries. Regarding connection speeds within the country, the area of Glyfada in Athens, was in first place (17.9 Mbps), followed by Voula, Athens (17.19 Mbps), Serres, northern Greece (13.94 Mbps) and Alexandroupoli, northern Greece (13.49 Mbps). Meanwhile, the areas within Greece where the lowest average connection speeds were recorded are: Corfu (8.39 Mbps), Sparta, Peloponnese (8.36Mbps), Kalamata, Peloponnese (8.24 Mbps), Nafpaktos, west Greece (8.16 Mbps), Ioannina, northern Greece (8.07 Mbps) and in last place Ptolemais, northern Greece (7.96 Mbps). The fastest internet connections in the world were recorded in Singapore, reaching an average speed of 103.99 Mbps and Hong Kong with 96.30 Mbps. People of South Korea also have the chance to surf the net at high speeds with 76.88 Mbps and in Japan with 67.83 Mbps. Sweden, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Switzerland are the only European countries that made it in the index top 10, while Denmark, Latvia, Moldova, Iceland, Luxembourg, France, Estonia, Finland and Norway are in the top 20 countries with the fastest internet connections. On the other hand, the lowest average connection speed was recorded in Burkina Faso, reaching only 1.12 Mbps. On a global level, the average connection speed is 22.04 Mbps, while the average broadband speed in Europe is 27.3 Mbps.
