History has been made in the home of democracy: Greece will enter a volatile new era following a victory in its general election for far-left party Syriza . The result can be seen as a public rejection of austerity and the spending cuts and tax rises imposed by Europe. While widely predicted, the win for Alexis Tsipras, leader of the umbrella coalition of assorted leftists known as Syriza, was bigger than expected and raises many issues. The party has never been tested in power and is opposed to Brussels and Berlin. While not anti-European, the results brings into question whether Greece will remain in the eurozone.
