Prosecutor to Decide Whether Golden Dawn MPs Can Vote

A special prosecutor will decide whether the seven Golden Dawn MPs held in pre-trial custody should be allowed to vote in the presidential election that starts on Wednesday. Prosecutor Nikolas Poimenidis — who handles cases relating to persons held at Korydallos Prison — had denied the seven GD lawmakers the right to vote in the vote of confidence in parliament in October. He has only allowed them to leave prison to attend court cases and appear in parliament when the House voted for the lifting of their immunity. Another prosecutor in Nafplio, Peloponnese, Greece, will decide if former Golden Dawn MP Stathis Boukouras, who is held in custody there, will be allowed to vote in the presidential election. Boukouras has severed ties with the party and is now independent.
