World Conference on Spa Tourism in Edipsos

The Thermae Sylla Spa & Wellness Hotel in Edipsos, Greece, will host the world conference on the “Prospects of Tourism-Thermalism in Different Geographical Areas in the framework of the European Health Act” from October 9-11. The conference is being organized by the Greek Union of Thermalism Businesses, Istiaia-Edipsos Municipality, the Thermalism World Organization and the International Society of Medical Hydrology and Climatology. During the three-day event, eminent speakers will present their work on the reality of thermalism in Greece, Europe and the world. The congress will be launched on October 10 by Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni. On Saturday, October 11, a round table discussion on thermal therapies in Europe will take place. The conferenvce will also feature the first international meeting on the program “The History of Thermalism and Target Groups,” aiming to show how a pan-European group of spa resorts with Greek-Roman roots is able to implement a successful model of tourism development that will be focused on European spa tourism. Istiaia-Edipsos Mayor Lina Efstathiou and the president of the Greek Union of Thermalism Businesses, Zisis Angelidis, pointed out that the conference aims to highlight the economic prospects, history and culture of thermalism, the great stock of spas, Greek hydrotherapeutic art,  as well as the structures and infrastructures of the Greek spa tourism. It also aims to set new goals and organize actions that will lead to the growth of Greek spa tourism. The conference is open to visitors and those involved with thermal springs and spa tourism.
